the story behind nourish food club
It all started with two sisters, a shared dream, and eight backyard chickens.

We’re Ashley and Sarah Armstrong—also known as the Strong Sistas—and we founded Nourish Food Club from our small regenerative farm in southwest Michigan. After struggling with chronic health issues from a young age, we discovered just how deeply broken the modern food system is. Instead of just talking about the problem, we decided to be part of the solution.
In 2020, we bought a 26-acre piece of land with no prior farming experience, rolled up our sleeves, and officially became first-generation farmers in 2021. We named it Angel Acres and began with one mission: to raise the healthiest, most nourishing eggs possible.
Armed with curiosity, grit, and a whole lot of determination (and very little clue what we were doing—just check out our early YouTube video posted below for proof!), we started with just eight chickens.
But we quickly ran into a big problem: every chicken feed option on the market was packed with high-PUFA ingredients—the same fats found in seed oils, which we wanted to avoid at all costs.
Ashley had spent years studying the research and knew this mattered. Feed chickens more unsaturated fat, and their yolks reflect that. PUFAs in = PUFAs out—in the eggs people eat.
So Ashley got to work crafting our own low-PUFA, metabolically supportive feed. The results? Remarkable. Lab tests showed significantly lower levels of metabolism-suppressing fats and a fatty acid profile much closer to what our ancestors would have consumed. Even more powerful? Customers who couldn’t tolerate other eggs were suddenly thriving on ours.
Proof that what you eat eats—and how it was raised—matters.
As demand grew, so did our flock—and our mission. We expanded into grass-fed beef, lamb, pork, pastured chicken, and raw goat milk. Ashley formulated custom feed for the pigs, chickens, and dairy goats, always guided by the same principle: real food that fuels, not fights, the metabolism.
But here’s the thing: you can’t do it all. Between feeding animals, working the land, filming content, sharing on social media, answering emails, and shipping perishable foods across the country… we hit a wall. That season taught us something vital: building a better food system takes a team—and a community.
Enter Brandon—Sarah’s husband—who came in at just the right time and took the lead on packing and fulfillment. With help from his brother and two good friends (shoutout to Shando and Gooby!), Nourish shipping was born in a tiny building at the farm. Humble beginnings, full of heart.
Today, Brandon leads our order fulfillment, packing, and distribution team—and has done a tremendous job scaling this side of the business. Producing high-quality food is one thing… but ensuring it’s delivered safely to your door? That’s a whole different beast. It’s no easy task to ship perishable, nutrient-dense food across the country—but Brandon has embraced the challenge with care, precision, and grit. He’s helped turn an ambitious dream into a functional, scalable system.
It’s uncharted territory to bring truly traditional, farm-fresh food conveniently to the modern doorstep—but we’re on a mission to do just that, so more people can access the kind of traditional, unaltered food that nourished generations before us.
As Nourish Food Club and this partnership of small farms started scaling up, we scaled back the number of animals at Angel Acres to focus on what we do best: egg layers, pigs, and a few cows. There are only so many hours in the day!
Our small regenerative trusted farm partners allow us to expand our offerings without compromising quality. They share our vision, follow our SOPs, use our custom low-PUFA feed, and we visit with them regularly.

Today, Nourish Food Club serves families nationwide, with distribution hubs in Michigan and Kansas. But our core remains the same: two sisters who believe in real food, traditional farming, and doing things the right way—even if it’s not the easy way.
We refuse to compromise by turning to industrial confinement practices. We’re building a food system from the ground up—patiently, intentionally, and in partnership with farmers who care as much as we do.
Through our LowPs™ standard, we focus on keeping levels of PUFAs (polyunsaturated fats), phytoestrogens, and pesticides as low as possible in the food we produce and source. These compounds, nearly unavoidable in the modern industrial food system, were far less prevalent in our ancestors’ diets—and we believe avoiding them is key to restoring metabolic health today.
And at the heart of it all—this is a family business. When you support Nourish, you're supporting a growing team of real people, working together to raise food the old-fashioned way—for your family and ours.

So what's our why?
Motherly, caring instincts to want to NOURISH others – combine that with an obsession in traditional farming practices, fatty acids and human metabolism, and realizing that the current food system is hindering our metabolism – this is the why that fuels us at Nourish.
We’re passionate about old-school food production that actually supports your health—and bringing it into the modern world with convenience and care.
Thanks for being part of the journey.
We’re just getting started!
