Your Virtual Farmsttand

Reconnecting you with small family farms and the kind of old-fashioned food that's becoming harder to find, all delivered to your doorstep.

Getting Started

New here? How the club works, where we ship, and what to expect.

Nourish Food Club is an exclusive, membership-based food cooperative that directly connects you with small-scale regenerative farms. Our mission is to bridge the gap between consumers and producers, ensuring that you have access to the highest quality, sustainably grown food straight from the source.

We developed Nourish because we believe that obtaining truly clean and nutrient-rich food should never feel like an additional chore or a full-time job. Our goal is to simplify the process, making it easy and enjoyable for you to nourish your body with wholesome, responsibly sourced ingredients.

Rather than spending your time and energy on inconvenient and time-consuming tasks such as:

  • Making multiple trips to various farms to find what you need, which can be exhausting and inefficient,
  • Conducting extensive research on every product to verify its quality and authenticity, which can be overwhelming,
  • Constantly doubting the accuracy of labels and product claims, leading to uncertainty and frustration,

We streamline the entire experience by consolidating everything into one convenient platform:

  • A single, user-friendly website where you can browse a wide variety of products from trusted farms,
  • One simple checkout process that saves you time and hassle,
  • And one reliable delivery service that brings your order directly to your doorstep, ensuring freshness and convenience.

The food we offer is intentionally different, designed with your health and the planet in mind.

Our focus is on creating & sourcing products that adhere to the highest standards, including:

  • Supporting regenerative farming practices that restore soil health, promote biodiversity, and reduce environmental impact,
  • Providing 100% grass-fed and grass-finished meats and dairy, including beef, lamb, yak, and cow dairy, which ensures superior nutrition and animal welfare,
  • Using our custom made animal feed that is free from corn and soy and low in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), specifically for goats, chickens, and pigs, to promote healthier animals and better-tasting & better-for-you products,
  • Eliminating industrial additives, fillers, and shortcuts, so you receive food in its purest, most natural form,
  • Adopting a no-needle approach, meaning no vaccines, hormones, or other artificial interventions are used in the production process, ensuring the integrity and naturalness of your food,
  • Maintaining direct relationships with the farmers who produce your food, fostering transparency, trust, and a deeper connection to the source of your meals.

In essence, this is food crafted the way it was traditionally made—rooted in time-honored methods and respect for the land—while being paired with the modern convenience that fits seamlessly into your busy lifestyle.

Here's how the process works from start to finish:

1. Place Your Order

Orders are placed throughout the week and close Sunday night for the following week's shipment.

2. We Prepare & Pack Your Order

Your food is carefully packed in insulated boxes using:

  • Compostable insulation
  • Ice packs and/or dry ice
  • Protective packaging to keep items secure

3. Your Order Ships

We ship Monday through Friday, depending on your location:

  • Farther states → ship earlier in the week
  • Mid-range regions → midweek
  • Nearby states → later in the week

This helps ensure your order arrives fresh and on time. Please see our "Delivery Info" page for specifics per each state.

4. Delivery to Your Door

Once shipped, your order typically arrives within:

  • 1–3 days (ground)
  • 2 days (express)

You'll receive a tracking number via email so you can follow your package.

5. Unpack & Enjoy

When your order arrives:

  • Some items may still be frozen
  • Some may be partially thawed but still cold

Both are normal and safe.

This is the most important thing to understand:

Your order may look different than what you're used to—and that's a good thing.

Here's what's completely normal:

Your Order May Arrive in Multiple Boxes 📦

Items like:

  • Eggs
  • Pantry items
  • Broth
  • Flour

Ship separately and will have their own tracking numbers.

Your Food May Be Frozen, Partially Thawed, or Cold ❄️

Because we ship real food:

  • Some items will arrive fully frozen
  • Some may be partially thawed but still cold to touch due to transit conditions

As long as your food is cool to the touch and has no off smell, it is safe to refrigerate or refreeze.

You May Notice Natural Variation 🥩

Our food is not mass-produced.

You may see:

  • Differences in color
  • Variation in size or shape
  • Seasonal changes

This reflects real farming conditions—not industrial standardization.

Dairy May Look Different 🥛

Because our cosmetic dairy is not pasteurized or homogenized:

  • It may separate
  • Texture may change (especially after freezing)

This is completely normal and does not affect safety.

Eggs May Be Different Than Store-Bought 🥚

Our eggs:

  • Are fresh (typically within 7 days of being laid)
  • Retain their natural bloom
  • May vary in yolk color depending on season
  • May vary in shape, size and color

Bottom line:

If your food is:

  • Cold
  • Properly sealed
  • Smells normal

If anything seems off, we're always here to help. Please email us at support@nourishfoodclub.com

We operate on a weekly shipping cycle for Nourish Food Club items.

Order deadline

Orders must be placed by Sunday at midnight to ship the following week.

How it works

Orders placed from Monday through Sunday will ship out the following week, with shipment days staggered based on your distance from our shipping hub.

In general:

  • Farther states (from Michigan) tend to ship earlier in the week
  • Mid-range regions tend to ship midweek
  • Nearby states often ship later in the week

This is not always the case, but it is our normal. This method helps ensure your package arrives by Saturday in most cases. If you have a specific timeline you need your order to ship within, please notify our customer support team, and we'll do our best to help.

Simple takeaway:

For Nourish orders (meat, dairy, cheese, sourdough, etc.), please place your order by Sunday at midnight to have it shipped the following week.

For egg boxes, we usually ship orders placed during the week depending on availability. Our egg box subscriptions typically ship on Monday, and orders placed Tuesday through Thursday before 1 pm ET are shipped the same day. Orders placed on Friday or over the weekend will be shipped the following Tuesday. We give priority to Monday shipments for our subscription orders.

Yes — we currently ship to all 50 U.S. states.

Because we sell directly online and ship to your door, you do not need to live near one of our farm partners to access Nourish products.

What to expect by location

Shipping details vary depending on your region:

  • Light blue states: typically ship via 1 or 2 day ground
  • Dark blue states: typically ship via 2 day express
  • Alaska & Hawaii: ship via 2 day express

Important note

The shipping map on our site provides a general estimate.

We have minimum order requirements based on your location to help ensure your food ships safely and stays at a proper temperature during transit.

Order minimums by shipping zone:

  • Light blue states: $50 minimum
  • Dark blue states: $90 minimum
  • Alaska & Hawaii: $250 minimum

Why do we have order minimums?

Shipping perishable food requires:

  • Insulated packaging
  • Ice packs and/or dry ice
  • Enough product mass to maintain a safe temperature during transit

Smaller orders often do not hold temperature as well, which is why minimums vary by region. Shipping prices have also drastically increased over the years, and shipping small amounts of items at once is often not financially feasible.

Simple takeaway:

Your minimum order is based on where you live and the shipping method required to get your food to you safely and the most cost effectively.

Not all items can ship together—and that's intentional.

We separate certain products to ensure:

  • Safe temperatures
  • Product quality
  • Reduced damage risk

Items That Ship Separately

The following are typically shipped in their own boxes:

  • Eggs
  • Produce
  • Any "Build Your Own Box", such as:
    • Broth
    • Pantry
    • Sourdough
    • Flour
    • Cheese

Each will have its own tracking number.

Multiple Shipping Locations 📍

We also ship from multiple hubs (Kansas and Michigan), which can result in separate deliveries.

What to Expect

  • You may receive multiple tracking emails
  • Boxes may arrive on different days

This is completely normal and helps ensure your food arrives in the best condition possible.

Ordering & Your Account

Subscriptions, skipping a week, restocks, and managing your orders.

You can adjust your subscription within your Nourish account. You'll first find your account on our website by finding the circle icon with the first initial of your registered name. For example, in the picture here you can see a "S". By clicking this "S", I'm essentially clicking into my Nourish profile. Keep in mind, yours may not say "S" if your name does not start with "S", so you're just looking for a circular icon with an initial in it on the top right side of your desktop screen on our website.

Once inside your Nourish profile, on the left hand side of the screen, you'll see a few options, including:

  • Order Details --> see past and current order information
  • Manage Subscriptions --> where you'll manage any subscriptions you may have
  • Member Resources --> extra bonus resources for our members
  • Addresses --> where you can adjust your address and email in our system
  • Membership Terms --> the PMA membership terms you signed when first joining
  • Logout --> where you can logout of your account

To access our subscription to make edits, we'll click into "Manage Subscriptions".

This will prompt you to LOGIN to our subscription portal. Our subscriptions are managed by "Recharge" subscriptions, and they require this extra step to login instead of a password. You simply enter in the email address you registered your subscription with and then click "Send login code (sends SMS and email)". This will send a secure 4 digit code to your text or email.

Please see the image below for what the email will look like that includes your code. Keep in mind, the code expires 4 minutes after being sent, so you must enter in the code promptly or you'll need to repeat this step in order to have a new code to login. The email subject starts with "Nourish Food Club secure login code: ...." The login code provided will not be the same as the one in the picture, it will be unique to your login and it will change every time you login.

You will go back to the login page on our website to enter the verification code. Once entered correctly, you'll gain access to the subscription portal.

The image below is what you'll see inside your subscription portal. As you can see on the left side of the screenshot, you'll be able to access information on your next order (what is displayed in the image below), "Subscriptions" which will be access to any other active subscriptions you may have, "Future orders" which will show you the schedule of your upcoming orders, "Order history" which shows you the history of your prior orders, "Account" which is where you can access and edit account details, and "Logout" if you want to logout of your subscription portal on our website.

In this particular example, an order has been placed so there's a notification that "Your recent order - We're working on our order, and we'll dispatch it as soon as it's ready". This means that a subscription order recently renewed and has not yet shipped. You can see details of the order by clicking "See what's in your order".

You also can see details of your upcoming order displayed under "Your next order". In this particular example, the upcoming order is scheduled for Fri, May 1, 2026. This is where you can begin to edit your orders. If you'd like to advance your shipment and have another order placed, you can click "Send now" which will put the order through our system immediately. If you'd like to reschedule the order for a different date, click "Reschedule". If you'd like to skip this upcoming order, click "Skip". This will skip your order until the next scheduled renewal date, which can be confirmed under the tab "Future orders". (It will be the date that is whatever interval you've chosen your subscription to be out from the order skipped date).

Within your account, if you click into "Subscriptions", you can access all of your current and past subscriptions. Under "Active" will be subscriptions that are currently active, and "Inactive" will show all of your past subscriptions that are no longer active.

If you click into a specific subscription, you are able to "Update contents" to change the frequency of the subscription and what's included (potentially, this depends on what your subscription is. For example, you cannot change what's included in an egg box since it's simply eggs).

You can see below an example of what the "Future orders" tab looks like. This shows the dates of your upcoming subscriptions depending on what frequency you've chosen. In the example shown, the subscription renews weekly. You can edit or skip any of these upcoming orders.

Within the "Account" tab, you can manage your addresses and payment methods.

If you are still having trouble accessing or editing your subscription, please reach out to our customer support team and we will be able to assist you.

If you need to update your address for a subscription, you can do this in your subscription portal on our website.

However, we strongly recommend also emailing our customer support team to confirm the change.

Occasionally, updates may not sync properly, so reaching out ensures we can verify everything on our end before your order is fulfilled.

However, you can still use a gift card along side a discount code.

The PMA is a one-time agreement required to join Nourish Food Club.

In simple terms, it:

  • Establishes Nourish as a private membership association (PMA)
  • Allows members to access our farm products
  • Outlines how our food is sourced and provided
  • Includes important acknowledgements around raw and minimally processed foods

For example, it explains that:

  • Products are sourced from regenerative farms with high standards
  • Raw dairy is unpasteurized and labeled for cosmetic use only
  • Members are choosing to participate in a private food system

The agreement also includes standard terms around liability, risk acknowledgment, and how the membership operates.

You can access and read the full agreement under your Account --> Membership Terms --> Nourish Food Club Membership Agreement

On your first order, you'll see a $1 Private Membership Agreement fee added to your cart.

This is a one-time, non-recurring fee required to formally join the membership.

It:

  • Confirms your participation in the PMA
  • Allows us to provide access to our products
  • Does not enroll you in any ongoing charges or commitments

You will not see this fee again after your first order.

Yes—many of our products are seasonal by nature.

We work with our small regenerative farms that follow natural growing and production cycles, which means availability changes throughout the year.

For example:

  • Lamb is available based on natural breeding and harvest cycles (generally spring through fall)
  • Sheep milk and sheep dairy are only produced during certain times of year (generally late spring through summer)
  • Produce boxes rotate based on what's currently being grown and harvested
  • Canned goods (like sauerkraut or jams) are made from fresh, regeneratively grown ingredients—once we sell out, we wait for the next harvest to make more (generally ample stock year-round with lingering availability late spring until we can make more early summer after harvest)

This approach allows us to prioritize freshness, nutrient density, and integrity, rather than forcing year-round availability.

Yes, many of our staple items are restocked on a weekly rhythm.

Products like sourdough, dairy, and other regularly produced items are typically restocked on an ongoing basis as new batches are made.

Because everything is produced fresh and in small batches, availability can still vary week to week depending on production, demand, and farm conditions.

For the most consistent experience, we recommend checking back weekly on Friday evenings through the weekend. Most products are restocked Friday evening, with the greatest availability through Sunday. This isn't a strict rule, but rather a general rhythm we follow.

If you're looking for a specific item, you can also use the "Notify Me When Back in Stock" feature or subscribe to our newsletter, Nourish News, for weekly updates on what's returning.

There are two easy ways to stay updated:

  • Use the "Notify Me When Back in Stock" feature
If a product is sold out, the "Add to Cart" button will change to "Notify Me."
When you sign up, you'll receive an email as soon as that specific item is restocked. See example below of Tallow Candles, when out of stock, you can select "Notify Me When Back in Stock"
  • Subscribe to our newsletter, Nourish News
Ashley shares weekly updates here, including what's being restocked and what's coming soon.

While restocks often happen Friday evenings around 5 PM EST, this is just an estimate, not a guaranteed time. We recommend checking back later Friday or early over the weekend for the best chance at restocked items.

The best way is to subscribe to an egg box.

When you become a subscriber:

  • You're no longer affected by the waitlist
  • Your egg box is reserved for you on an ongoing basis
  • You don't have to worry about eggs selling out

If you purchase eggs as a one-time order, you may need to rejoin the waitlist if they're out of stock when you're ready to order again.

Subscriptions are flexible, you can:

  • Skip deliveries
  • Change frequency
  • Cancel anytime

This allows you to keep consistent access without being locked in.

If egg boxes are currently full, you'll have the option to join the waitlist.

When more availability opens up, you'll be notified by email and given the opportunity to purchase. These openings can go quickly, so we recommend keeping an eye out and being ready to order when you receive that notification. If you miss out on purchasing, please do not be discouraged. We will have more egg boxes opening in upcoming weeks depending on the season and will do our best to help you secure one. Feel free to reach out to our customer support team for some tips!

Because we work with real farms, real animals, and real harvest cycles—not mass production.

Many of our products are made in small batches or depend on what's currently available from our regenerative farm partners. This means items can sell out quickly or be temporarily unavailable.

Common reasons something may be out of stock:

  • Limited production from small farms
  • High demand for certain products
  • Seasonal availability (for example, lamb or sheep dairy)
  • Fresh batches still being prepared

We don't artificially scale production or source from industrial suppliers to keep items constantly in stock. Instead, we prioritize quality, integrity, and working in rhythm with nature, even if that means occasional gaps in availability.

We're working intentionally to scale up our production responsibly to have more stock for our valued members, and will continue to work to fill these gaps as best as we can into the future.

Occasionally throughout the year, we have a waitlist for our egg boxes. If you currently cannot add an egg box to your cart, then your option is to join the waitlist and that means we do not have enough boxes for new customers, only for our existing subscribers.

This happens because our eggs are first prioritized for our existing subscribers. We always want to welcome new customers, but since we work with real pasture-raised hens, supply can fluctuate and doesn't always keep up with demand in real time.

A common example is late winter, when hens naturally lay fewer eggs. During this time, demand often increases while production temporarily dips, so a waitlist may appear until laying picks back up in the spring.

The good news—this is temporary. As production increases, we gradually open more spots, and we're consistently working to expand in a way that maintains our standards.

Shipping & Delivery

Ship days, delivery times, tracking, and why boxes can arrive separately.

Yes—we ship year-round.

How we adjust:

We adjust packaging based on:

  • Weather conditions
  • Shipping distance

This may include:

  • More or less dry ice
  • Ice packs instead of dry ice
  • Shipping speed adjustments

Our priority:

No matter the season, your order is packed to arrive safely.

Occasionally, delays can happen due to:

  • Weather
  • Carrier issues (FedEx)
  • High shipping volume

What to do:

  1. Check your tracking link first
  2. Look for updated delivery timing
  3. Reach out to us if something seems off

💡 Important:

We pack every order with enough insulation and cooling to maintain safe temperatures during typical transit times and minor delays.

Depending on what you ordered, a short delay may not cause any issues. We generally expect food to arrive at least refrigerator cold to the touch or colder/frozen. However, for highly perishable items, extended delays can impact product quality. Please email our team at support@nourishfoodclub.com so we can make things right.

Important note about eggs: Farm fresh unwashed eggs are naturally more temperature resilient than many people realize and may safely arrive warmer than refrigerated grocery store eggs depending on transit conditions. Warm eggs alone do not automatically indicate spoilage.

If your order has been delayed in transit for more than 7 days, please go ahead email us at support@nourishfoodclub.com and our team will work with you to resolve it.

Once your order ships, you'll receive an email with your tracking number.

This allows you to:

  • See your estimated delivery date
  • Follow your package in real time
  • Know when it will arrive

Important:

If your order ships in multiple boxes, you will receive multiple tracking numbers.

Please check the tracking link sent to your email once your order has shipped to see the expected delivery date. We want to let you know that we aren't responsible for packages left outside your home or apartment if no one is available to receive them. We recommend keeping an eye on the tracking updates and arranging for someone to be home to bring the package inside promptly, helping to keep your order safe and in good condition.

If you've met our Sunday order deadline, your order will ship the upcoming week.

Once your order has shipped:

  • Ground shipping: typically 1–2 days
  • Express shipping: 2 days
  • Egg shipments: typically 1–4 days depending on location

What affects delivery time?

  • Your distance from our shipping hub
  • Weather conditions
  • Carrier performance (FedEx)

💡 The majority of orders that are submitted by the Sunday order deadline are expected to be delivered by the following Saturday. This means that if you place your order before the cutoff time on Sunday, you can generally anticipate receiving your items within the same week, specifically by Saturday. This schedule helps ensure timely delivery and allows you to plan accordingly for when your order will arrive.

We ship all orders on a weekly schedule to ensure your food arrives fresh and in the best condition possible.

Step 1: Place Your Order

Orders are placed throughout the week and close Sunday at midnight for the following week's shipment.

Step 2: We Pack Your Order

Your order is packed using:

  • Insulated boxes
  • Compostable liners
  • Ice packs and/or dry ice for relevant products

Everything is packed with care to maintain safe temperatures during transit.

Step 3: Your Order Ships

We ship Monday through Friday, depending on your location from Michigan:

  • Farther states → generally earlier in the week
  • Mid-range regions → generally midweek
  • Nearby states → generally later in the week

Step 4: Delivery

Once shipped, your order typically arrives within:

  • 1–2 days (ground)
  • 2 days (express)

If you've experienced a shipping delay, please email our team at support@nourishfoodclub.com and we will investigate the situation and make it right.

Simple takeaway:

Order by Sunday → ships the following week → arrives within 1–3 days after shipping (not after ordering).

We ship orders Monday through Friday each week. Your exact ship day depends on your location:

  • West Coast / Texas / Florida → usually ships earlier in the week
  • Midwest / Southeast / Northeast → usually midweek
  • States closer to Michigan → usually later in the week

This staggered schedule helps ensure your food arrives fresh and on time.

There are exceptions to this schedule depending on how many orders we've received that week. If you have a specific date you need your order delivered by, please email our customer support team immediately after placing your order and we'll do our best to accommodate, if possible.

⚠️ Important note:

Packaging & Storage

Dry ice, keeping food fresh in transit, and how to store everything.

Yes—in most cases, you can safely refreeze your food.

✔️ You can refreeze if:

  • The product is still cold
  • It has been handled properly
  • There is no off smell

Refreezing thawed foods does not negatively affect their safety or quality. It is generally safe to refreeze foods that have been previously thawed, as long as they have been handled properly and have not been left out at unsafe temperatures for extended periods.

The only exception to this recommendation is when the food item arrives warm to the touch and shows signs of spoilage (such as a strong rotten smell). This situation, although rare, can happen due to delays or issues during transit. In such cases, the food may have been exposed to temperatures that allow harmful bacteria to grow, making it unsafe to refreeze or consume.

If you are still concerned about thawing and refreezing food items, consider this important fact: legally, grocery stores are permitted to thaw and refreeze meat products up to 14 times. This regulation indicates that the USDA has thoroughly evaluated the safety of this practice and determined that it is safe enough to be done repeatedly in commercial settings.

While we are not suggesting that individuals should routinely refreeze foods multiple times, we want to reassure you that there is an inherent risk when ordering food items online that they might not arrive completely frozen. Despite our best efforts to ensure your shipment is delivered in optimal condition, some thawing or partial thawing may occur during transit. However, in most cases, the food remains safe to eat and maintains its high quality, even if it has partially thawed. We encourage you to keep this in mind when receiving your orders and to handle the food appropriately upon arrival.

It is completely normal for eggs to arrive at room temperature or even warm.

Why?

Eggs are laid warm (around 100–105°F) and are naturally protected by their bloom.

During normal shipping conditions:

  • Short transit times
  • Proper packaging

They remain safe even if not cold.

✔️ When they are safe:

  • Eggs are intact
  • No off smell when cracked
  • Delivered within expected timeframe

⚠️ When to reach out:

  • Strong odor
  • Visible spoilage
  • Extended transit delays

💡 Simple takeaway

Eggs do not need to arrive cold to be safe as our eggs are unwashed and protected by their natural bloom.

It depends—and in most cases, this is completely normal.

What's expected

Your food may arrive:

  • Fully frozen
  • Partially thawed but still cold

As long as items are:

  • Cool to the touch
  • Properly sealed
  • Free from any off smell

They are safe to refrigerate or refreeze.

⚠️ When to be concerned

Reach out if:

  • Items (that are meant to be cold or frozen) are warm to the touch
  • Packaging is compromised
  • There is a strong off smell

💡 Simple takeaway

Cold even if thawed = safe
Warm = check with us

Yes—this is completely normal.

Our sourdough products are shipped frozen to preserve freshness, but they may arrive:

  • Fully frozen
  • Partially thawed
  • Or fully thawed

All of these are expected during transit.

Why This Is Okay

Sourdough is a naturally fermented food.

Unlike many conventional products, it:

  • Does not rely on preservatives
  • Is traditionally stored at room temperature
  • Can safely handle normal temperature changes during shipping

This means thawing during transit does not indicate a problem.

✔️ When It's Safe to Enjoy

Your sourdough is good to go if it:

  • Looks normal
  • Has no off smell (while keeping in mind that sourdough is a fermented product as does smell slightly fermented)
  • Arrived within the expected delivery window

⚠️ What About Raw Dough Products?

For the following items, temperature matters more:

  • Raw cookie dough

If these arrive no longer cold, we recommend reaching out to our team so we can take a closer look.

💡 Simple Takeaway

  • Thawed sourdough = normal
  • Fermented foods are naturally more stable
  • Freezing is for freshness, not because it's required for safety

Yes, in most cases, melted ice packs are completely normal and your eggs are still perfectly safe to use.

The ice packs included in our egg shipments are not intended to keep the eggs refrigerated or frozen throughout transit. Their purpose is to help buffer against potential extreme heat exposure during warmer months or unexpected shipping conditions.

Because our eggs are unwashed, they still retain their natural protective bloom, which helps protect the egg during shipping.

As mentioned in our FAQ "My Eggs Arrived Warm — Are They Safe?", it is completely normal for eggs to arrive at room temperature or even warm.

Why can eggs arrive warm and still be safe?

Fresh eggs are naturally laid warm (around 100–105°F) and are designed by nature to remain protected outside of refrigeration when their bloom remains intact.

During normal shipping conditions, including:

  • Standard transit times
  • Proper protective packaging
  • Intact shells

…our eggs remain safe even if they do not arrive cold.

What should I expect with the ice packs?

It is completely expected for ice packs to:

  • Arrive partially thawed
  • Arrive fully melted
  • Feel cool or even room temperature depending on weather and transit time

This does not automatically indicate spoilage or unsafe eggs.

The ice packs are simply there as an added layer of protection against excessive summer heat exposure during transit.

✔️ Your eggs are generally safe when:

  • The shells are intact
  • There is no foul or sulfur-like odor when cracked open
  • The shipment arrived within a normal delivery timeframe

⚠️ Please reach out to us if:

  • Eggs arrive with a strong off smell
  • You notice visible spoilage
  • Your package experienced severe or extended transit delays
  • Eggs arrived broken

💡 Simple takeaway

Our eggs do not need to arrive cold to be safe. Because they are unwashed and protected by their natural bloom, it is completely normal for them to arrive at room temperature or warm, and it is also completely normal for the ice packs to arrive melted.

On rare occasion, you may notice light frost or ice crystals on your meat.

This can happen due to:

  • Natural moisture freezing
  • Temperature changes during transit
  • Packaging from butchers*

*This is more common on cuts that are oddly shaped, such as pork chops - items that are not as easily vacuum sealed.

✔️ Important:

This does not affect:

  • Safety
  • Quality once cooked

💡 Simple takeaway

It is not uncommon to notice a light frost forming on frozen products. This frost can sometimes appear as a thin layer of ice crystals on the surface. To ensure an accurate assessment of the product's condition, it is important to allow the items to thaw completely before inspecting them for any potential issues. Thawing the products thoroughly will help you better identify any quality concerns or defects that may not be visible while the items are still frozen.

Short answer: sometimes—but not always, and that's intentional.

Our goal is not for eggs to arrive cold.
Our goal is for them to arrive safe, stable, and in good condition.

Why Eggs Don't Always Need Ice Packs

Eggs are naturally designed to be resilient. When a hen lays an egg, it comes out of her body at around 100–105°F (37.8–40.5°C). That means a freshly laid egg is warm to the touch, not cold.

Before the egg is laid, the hen also applies a natural protective coating called the bloom.

This bloom:

  • Seals the pores of the shell
  • Helps keep bacteria out
  • Protects the egg in varying environmental conditions

In most countries outside the U.S., eggs are sold and stored at room temperature because this natural protection is left intact.

Why We Don't Always Use Ice Packs

Because of this natural design, eggs do not require constant refrigeration during short transit periods. Under normal shipping conditions, eggs can safely travel without cold packs, especially when properly packaged in our temperature combatting insulation.

What We Do in Warmer Months

During the summer or in hotter regions, we often include ice packs in egg shipments. This is not because eggs must be kept cold at all times, but because:

👉 We want to reduce the risk of prolonged heat exposure, especially if:

  • Transit takes longer than expected
  • A package sits in a warm environment (porch, truck, warehouse)

We kindly request all members keep an eye on the estimated delivery window for your box and having someone available at your home to bring it inside, especially during hot weather. This helps prevent your egg box from being left out in the heat for too long.

What We Do in Cooler Months

During colder weather, we usually don't include ice packs in egg boxes because the outdoor temperatures help keep things stable. Sometimes, eggs might even arrive frozen. While this doesn't make the eggs unsafe, it can affect the texture of the yolks or whites. We ask our members to keep this in mind when ordering eggs in the winter. That said, frozen eggs often thaw just fine, so we suggest thawing your eggs before requesting a refund if you notice any issues related to freezing.

When Issues Can Occur

Eggs are very stable under normal conditions, but problems can arise when:

  • Packages are delayed beyond expected transit times
  • Eggs are exposed to prolonged high heat (100°F+)
  • Boxes sit for extended periods after delivery

What to Expect When Your Eggs Arrive

It is completely normal for your eggs to arrive:

  • Room temperature
  • Slightly warm
  • Not cold to the touch

👉 This does not mean there is an issue. By purchasing an egg box in the summer, it means that you confirm you are aware that your eggs are not intended to arrive cold to touch and are perfectly fine if they're slightly warm. Please only request a refund for any heat related damage or concerns after cracking an egg open to assess the state of the egg(s).

How to Assess Your Eggs

When your eggs arrive:

  • If they look intact
  • Have no off smell when cracked
  • And were delivered within a normal timeframe

They are safe to use.

Heat-related problems that do not compromise the safety of the eggs may present themselves in certain ways, such as runny yolks. This condition often appears as yolks that are already broken or runny when the egg is cracked open. However, it is important to note that runny yolks are not always caused by heat exposure. If you notice this issue affecting the majority of the eggs in your carton, we encourage you to request a refund. When requesting a refund, please include the exact number of eggs that are impacted and provide clear photographs as evidence. This will enable us to address the problem promptly and provide you with the appropriate assistance.

Simple Takeaway

Eggs are naturally built to handle a range of temperatures.

Our packaging strategy adjusts based on:

  • Weather
  • Distance
  • Transit conditions

Ice packs are used as a protective measure when needed, not as a requirement for safe delivery.

Every order is packed with care to ensure your food arrives safe and ready to enjoy.

We use:

  • Insulated boxes
  • Compostable liners
  • Ice packs and/or dry ice
  • Protective packaging to keep items secure

Temperature control

We adjust packaging based on:

  • Distance
  • Weather
  • Transit time

This allows us to maintain safe temperatures throughout delivery.

Important to know

Not all items are meant to arrive fully frozen or ice cold.

Some products may arrive:

  • Frozen
  • Partially thawed but still cold

This is normal and expected. Items that arrive thawed can be refrozen safely.

This is especially true for eggs. Please see "Do You Ship Eggs with Ice Packs?" for more information.

On occasion, depending on the temperate outside, how far your package is being shipped, and what you ordered, your order might ship with dry ice.

Short answer: this is completely normal—and in most cases, the dry ice will already be gone by the time your order arrives.

Why We Use Dry Ice

Dry ice is used to keep frozen items at a safe temperature during transit, especially for:

  • Longer shipping distances
  • Warmer weather
  • Highly perishable frozen items

It allows your food to stay cold without melting into liquid like regular ice.

Why You May Not See It

Dry ice doesn't melt—it sublimates, meaning it turns directly from a solid into a gas.

That means:

  • It gradually disappears during transit
  • It often leaves no trace behind (other than the bag it was in)
  • This is expected and completely normal

If There Is Dry Ice Left in Your Box

Occasionally, especially in colder weather or shorter transit times, you may still find some dry ice in your package. If so, please follow these instructions:

✔️ Do:

  • Leave it in a well-ventilated area
  • Let it dissipate on its own
  • Keep it out of reach of children and pets

⚠️ Do NOT:

  • Touch it with bare hands (can cause burns)
  • Place it in a sealed container (can build pressure)
  • Dispose of it in a sink or drain

🧊 Is It Safe?

Yes—dry ice is safe to ship with food when handled properly. It does not present any chemical concerns (it is simply the solid form of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) aka, the same air that we as humans breathe out! The only concern is that it can cause burns when touched with bare hands due to the freezing temperature, which is why we specifically recommend keeping it away from children and pets who may not be aware of this risk.

We use it intentionally to ensure your frozen items arrive in the best condition possible.

💡 Simple takeaway

  • No dry ice left? → completely normal
  • Some dry ice left? → let it dissipate safely

Either way, it's just part of how we keep your food protected during shipping.

We use Enviro Ice, a plant-based gel pack.

✔️ What it is:

  • Non-toxic
  • Plant-based
  • Safe for drains

🌱 How to dispose:

  • Cut open and pour gel down the drain
  • Rinse with water
  • Recycle outer plastic where accepted

You can also dilute the gel and use it as plant food.

All of our sourdough and baked goods are shipped frozen to preserve freshness, but they may arrive frozen, partially thawed, or fully thawed depending on transit conditions.

👉 This is completely normal and expected.

If Your Sourdough Arrives Thawed

Sourdough products (like bread and English muffins) are safe to consume even if they arrive thawed.

This is because:

  • Sourdough is a naturally fermented food
  • It is traditionally made and stored at room temperature
  • It does not rely on preservatives or strict cold storage in the same way many modern products do

✔️ If your sourdough arrives:

  • Cool
  • Room temperature
  • Or fully thawed

👉 It is still safe to enjoy.

⚠️ The exception: raw doughs

For the following items, temperature matters more:

  • Raw cookie dough

If these items arrive no longer cold, it is important to use your best judgment when handling them. If you are uncertain about their condition or safety, do not hesitate to reach out for guidance or clarification. It is worth noting that sourdough doughs are typically fermented at room temperature. Therefore, the absence of cold temperatures is not necessarily a negative factor for sourdough products. In fact, this room temperature fermentation process is essential to the development of sourdough, as it allows the natural fermentation to occur, giving sourdough its distinctive flavor, texture, & potential health benefits. So, while cold storage is important for many baked goods, it is not always critical for sourdough items due to their unique fermentation method.

Freezer Storage (Recommended)

To extend shelf life, we recommend storing all items in the freezer.

  • Shelf life: 3–6 months frozen
  • You can refreeze items if they arrive thawed but still in good condition

Sliced Breads (Artisan Loaf, Sandwich Loaf, English Muffins)

Storage:

  • Keep frozen and pull slices as needed
  • Or store at room temp for short-term use (1–2 days)

Reheating:

Toaster (best option):

  • Toast directly from frozen or thawed

Oven:

  • Lightly sprinkle with water
  • Warm at ~350°F for a few minutes

This helps restore moisture and texture.

💡 Tip:

If bread feels slightly dry, a small amount of water before reheating will help bring it back to life.

Pizza Dough

Storage:

  • Keep frozen until ready to use

After thawing:

  • Store in the fridge
  • Use within 3 days

💡 Tip:

Let dough come to room temperature before stretching for best results.

Raw Cookie Dough

Storage:

  • Keep frozen until ready to use

After thawing:

  • Store in the fridge
  • Use within 3 days

Granola

Storage:

  • Store in the fridge or at room temperature

Shelf life:

  • Best enjoyed within 7–10 days after thawing

Room Temperature Storage

Because our sourdough is traditionally made and free from preservatives:

  • It can be kept at room temperature short-term
  • Best enjoyed within 1–2 days once thawed

For longer storage, keep it frozen.

Important Note on Sourdough

Sourdough is a naturally fermented product, which means:

  • It is designed to exist outside of strict refrigeration
  • Texture and flavor can change slightly over time
  • Thawing during transit does not mean the product is unsafe

✔️ Simple Takeaway

  • Thawed sourdough = normal and safe
  • Freeze for longer storage
  • Use gentle reheating to restore texture
  • Be more mindful with raw dough products

🥩 Meat

  • Refrigerate if using within a few days
  • Otherwise freeze immediately, even if the meat has arrived thawed or partially thawed

🥛 Dairy

  • Keep refrigerated if using within a few days
  • Freeze if not utilizing within the week*
  • Stir or mix if separation occurs

*Dairy items we do not recommend freezing:

  • Cream
  • Sour Cream
  • Yogurts
  • Cheese
  • Cream cheese
  • Kefir

These items are completely safe to freeze, and they may, on occasion, arrive partially frozen due to the cold packaging or the outside temperatures during transit. However, we generally do not recommend freezing these products for an extended period. Prolonged freezing can cause subtle changes in their texture and consistency, which might affect their overall quality. If you receive any of these items in a frozen state and notice that their consistency has been negatively impacted, please do not hesitate to contact our customer support team. You can request a refund, and we will be happy to assist you with any concerns related to the condition of your order.

Dairy items that are more suitable to freeze if longer storage is desired:

  • Milk
  • Buttermilk
  • Whey
  • Butter
  • Cottage cheese
  • Ricotta
  • Colostrum

🥚 Eggs

  • Can be stored at room temperature or in colder rooms, however, we recommend storing your eggs in the refrigerator after delivery for a longer shelf-life.

Our cosmetic dairy is raw and free from stabilizers.

You may notice:

  • Separation
  • Clumping
  • Stronger flavor over time

✔️ This is normal

Especially for:

  • Raw dairy
  • Non-homogenized dairy
  • Live cultured products

For instance, when you thaw our Jersey Cow Bath Milk, you may notice that after it has been sitting for a short period, a distinct layer of cream forms at the top. This separation is entirely natural and indicates the presence of fat rising to the surface. To reintegrate this creamy layer back into the milk, all you need to do is gently shake the container. This simple action will evenly distribute the cream throughout the milk, restoring its original consistency and ensuring a smooth, rich texture.

Similarly, you might observe a thin layer of liquid on the surface of yogurt, which is known as whey separation. This is a common occurrence and happens when the liquid portion separates from the solid yogurt due to no stabilizers. Rather than being a sign of spoilage, this whey can be easily mixed back into the yogurt with a spoon or gentle stirring. Doing so will blend the liquid back into the yogurt, enhancing its creaminess and maintaining its delicious flavor and texture.

💡 Simple takeaway

Variation in texture or flavor are expected with real, unprocessed dairy.

Order Issues & Refunds

Damaged, missing, or not quite right — here's how we make it right.

Because we ship real, minimally processed food, some variation is completely normal.

✔️ Normal (not eligible for refunds):

  • Items arriving cold but not frozen
  • Light frost on meat
  • Eggs arriving warm (but not spoiled)
  • Sourdough arriving thawed
  • Natural variation in color, size, or texture

⚠️ Potential issues:

  • Strong off smell
  • Fully warm perishable items
  • Broken seals on liquid products
  • Significant damage to products
  • Missing packages

💡 Simple takeaway

Not all variation is a problem—but if something seems off, we're here to help.

At Nourish Food Club, we truly stand behind the food we ship and the experience we provide.

We are a small family-owned business working directly with regenerative farms and real food producers to bring highly perishable food safely to your door. Because of this, we know that occasional issues can happen during packing, shipping, or delivery - and when they do, we want the opportunity to make things right.

The Nourish Guarantee exists to support genuine order issues while helping us continue sustainably providing this food long term.

Examples of Situations Covered Under the Nourish Guarantee

Examples of situations we may cover include:

  • Missing items
  • Incorrect items
  • Severely damaged products
  • Significant egg damage
  • Broken seals or leaking products
  • Delivery delays resulting in products arriving above refrigerator temperature
  • Lost packages
  • Major fulfillment or shipping mistakes

If there is an issue with your order, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at support@nourishfoodclub.com and include:

  • Your order number
  • A detailed description of the issue
  • Photos of the damage/issue at hand

Photos are especially helpful for damaged items, egg shipments, leaking products, or packaging concerns.

Important Notes About Eggs

Eggs are one of the most fragile foods possible to ship.

While we package them very carefully, small cracks or minor cosmetic imperfections can occasionally happen during transit and are considered a normal part of shipping farm-fresh eggs.

Examples that are generally not covered include:

  • Small "micro cracks"
  • Minor cosmetic shell damage
  • A single lightly "micro" cracked egg within an otherwise intact shipment

If there is significant damage to your egg order or actual broken egg(s), please reach out and we will gladly review it! Please include photographs of the damage showing all the affected eggs, and the exact amount of eggs broken and unusable so we can properly refund you.

Additionally, unwashed farm-fresh eggs are naturally more temperature resilient than many people realize. Eggs arriving with melted ice packs and warm do not automatically indicate spoilage. Please see the FAQ "The Ice Packs in My Egg Box Melted - Are My Eggs Safe?"

Examples of Situations NOT Covered

Examples of situations generally not covered include:

  • Taste preferences or personal preferences
  • Situations where the product itself is safe and properly fulfilled, but simply not preferred
  • Minor cosmetic imperfections
  • Small egg micro cracks
  • Orders reported far outside the reporting window
  • Issues caused after delivery due to improper storage or handling
  • Scam websites, impersonators, or companies pretending to be Nourish Food Club

Please note that food from small regenerative farms can naturally vary slightly throughout the seasons. Flavor, color, texture, and appearance may differ from batch to batch due to factors like weather, forage, animal diets, and traditional production methods.

Please Help Us Keep This Sustainable

We genuinely want customers to feel cared for and supported when real issues happen.

At the same time, food margins are extremely small - especially for small farms and highly perishable products. Refunds and reshipments are very costly for businesses like ours.

We kindly ask customers to approach the Nourish Guarantee honestly and reasonably so we can continue offering this food and supporting regenerative farms for years to come.

We reserve the right to deny claims that appear abusive, dishonest, fraudulent, or outside the scope of the Nourish Guarantee.

Yes, if one egg is cracked and unusable, you're welcome to email us and we can refund you appropriately! Please keep in mind that micro-cracks where the egg is still safe and usable are not qualified for a refund.

We gently ask our community to use the Nourish Guarantee system honestly and thoughtfully. We want to continue offering support for delicate items like eggs, and fair use helps keep this sustainable for everyone.

That depends on the crack. If it's just a small hairline crack and nothing is leaking, the egg may still be usable if refrigerated right away and used soon.

However, if the shell is fully broken, leaking, or the inside of the egg is exposed, we recommend discarding it to be safe.

If you're unsure, please email our customer support team with a photo and we'll help you determine whether it's usable. We do appreciate when our members are resourceful here!

That's definitely not the experience we want you to have. On the rare occasion, this can happen due to mishandling by the carrier.

Our Food & Our Farms

Our standards: organic, pasture-raised, low PUFA, feed, testing, and sourcing.

Yes, we test our raw dairy regularly, including each batch.

At Nourish, we hold ourselves to exceptionally high standards when it comes to sanitation, monitoring, and verification. Our approach follows the protocols of the Raw Milk Institute (RAWMI), which is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous raw dairy safety frameworks in the world.

This means our process goes well beyond basic requirements and includes:

  • Frequent pathogen testing (each batch)
  • Strict sanitation protocols during milking, handling, and packaging
  • Continuous monitoring of herd health and milk quality
  • Ongoing verification of process control systems

These layers of testing and oversight are designed to ensure raw dairy is produced responsibly and with a high level of care when done correctly.

If you're interested in the broader framework behind this, this published research explains why RAWMI standards are considered best-in-class globally and how they differ from more limited testing models:

We use a small amount of 100% grass-fed gelatin in our Greek yogurt.

Why we do this:

To thicken the yogurt while keeping it raw.

Traditional thickening methods require heat, which would compromise the raw nature of the product.

✔️ Important:

  • The gelatin is clean and intentionally sourced
  • It allows us to maintain both texture and quality while keeping the yogurt raw

In many regions across North America, the sale of raw (unpasteurized) dairy for human consumption is restricted or regulated differently than pasteurized products. Labeling these products as cosmetic allows us to continue working with small, regenerative farms and make these products available, while remaining compliant with current laws.

That said, the way our dairy is produced, handled, and tested reflects a food-grade standard of care that meets—and in many ways exceeds—conventional grocery store dairy systems.

We hold ourselves to exceptionally high standards when it comes to sanitation, monitoring, and testing:

  • Each batch of our cosmetic raw milk is tested regularly
  • We follow the protocols of the Raw Milk Institute (RAWMI), widely regarded as the most rigorous raw dairy safety framework in the world
  • These standards go beyond typical regulatory requirements and include:

    • Frequent pathogen testing
    • Strict sanitation procedures at every stage of handling
    • Ongoing verification of process control and herd health

This framework is designed to ensure that raw dairy is produced responsibly and with a high level of safety when done correctly. It also differs significantly from less stringent systems, which is why we're careful not to generalize issues seen elsewhere to farms operating under these higher standards.

If you'd like to explore this further, this published research outlines why RAWMI standards are considered a global benchmark and how they differ from conventional approaches:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7019599/

Disclaimer: Our raw dairy products are sold for cosmetic purposes only. They are not intended for human consumption and have not been evaluated or approved by regulatory agencies for food use. By purchasing these products, you acknowledge and accept full responsibility for their use.

No, and this is intentional.

While the "organic" label can be helpful in some cases, it does not necessarily guarantee that a product is free from all sprays or chemical residues. Organic standards still allow for certain approved inputs, and they don't always reflect the full picture of how food is grown or produced.

At Nourish, we've chosen to focus on outcomes rather than labels. We prioritize working with regenerative, no-spray farmers and maintaining full visibility into how our feed ingredients are grown and sourced.

You can learn more about our eggs, including details on our glyphosate testing, here.

Yes, we have conducted testing on our eggs and can confirm they are free of glyphosate residue. This is a key part of our approach and reflects both our feed formulation and our sourcing standards.

Because chickens are monogastric animals (like humans), what they eat directly impacts the quality of their eggs. That's why we've built a system that starts with clean, regeneratively grown feed ingredients and avoids the common high-risk inputs found in conventional and even many organic feeds.

Our focus is simple:

  • Clean inputs
  • Transparent sourcing
  • Verified outcomes through testing

If you'd like to learn more about how we think about organic labeling and why we've taken a different approach, you can explore more here:

Our chickens are fed a custom-formulated diet designed with one core goal in mind: supporting human health through a truly low PUFA (polyunsaturated fat) profile and no glyphosate residue.

We don't use off-the-shelf feed. Instead, we work directly with regenerative, no-spray row crop farmers who grow the primary ingredients specifically for us. These ingredients are then sent to a small, local mill we partner with, where our feed is mixed in carefully crafted small batches.

Our feed includes:

  • Regeneratively grown peas
  • Triticale
  • Wheat
  • Beef tallow
  • A custom blend of vitamins and minerals

This formulation is intentionally designed to be low in PUFAs and free from common high-PUFA and hormone-disrupting inputs like corn, soy, and flax - something that is extremely difficult to achieve in modern poultry production.

We also prioritize purity. Our eggs have been tested and are free of glyphosate residue, reflecting both our sourcing standards and our commitment to clean food from start to finish.

Beyond their formulated feed, our chickens are raised on pasture where they naturally forage for grasses, insects, and whatever their environment provides. This plays an important role in both their health and the quality of the eggs.

They also occasionally receive organic produce scraps as a supplemental addition.

Our eggs are shipped with their natural bloom intact.

The bloom is a protective coating that a hen applies to the egg just before it is laid.

What the bloom does:

  • Seals the pores of the shell
  • Helps prevent bacteria from entering
  • Protects the egg in varying environmental conditions

United States vs. other countries

In the U.S., most commercial eggs are:

  • Washed with chemicals (often chlorine)
  • Coated with oils
  • Stripped of their natural bloom

Because of this, they must be refrigerated at all times.

Our approach

Our eggs:

  • Are fresh (typically within 7 days of being laid)
  • Retain their natural protective structure
  • Are handled more traditionally

💡 Simple takeaway

The bloom is nature's way of protecting the egg—
and it's a big part of why our eggs can safely handle shipping conditions.

Yolk color naturally changes throughout the year, and this is completely normal.

What Actually Determines Yolk Color

Yolk color is primarily influenced by what the hens are eating, especially the presence of natural plant compounds like beta-carotene and other carotenoids.

These compounds come from:

  • Fresh grasses
  • Green plants
  • Bugs and natural forage

Why Yolks Are Darker in Some Seasons

During the spring and summer, hens have greater access to:

  • Lush green pasture
  • Fresh vegetation rich in carotenoids

This often results in deeper orange yolks

Why Yolks Are Lighter in Winter

In the winter months, pasture availability naturally changes:

  • Grasses are less abundant
  • Forage is less vibrant and lower in carotenoids

This leads to lighter yellow yolks

What Yolk Color Does Not Mean

A lighter yolk does not mean:

  • Lower quality
  • Lower nutrient density
  • A change in fatty acid profile
  • Fewer vitamins

The core nutritional qualities we prioritize remain consistent, including:

  • Fatty acid balance (low PUFA approach)
  • Protein quality
  • Vitamin content (including B vitamins and fat-soluble vitamins)

A Note on Grocery Store Eggs

Many commercial egg producers add color-enhancing ingredients to feed in order to produce consistently dark orange yolks.

These can include:

  • Marigold extract
  • Synthetic or concentrated pigments

This creates:

  • A uniform appearance
  • A perception of higher quality

But it does not reflect natural seasonal variation.

✔️ Simple Takeaway

  • Yolk color changes naturally with the seasons
  • Darker doesn't mean "better," and lighter doesn't mean "worse"
  • Nutritional quality remains consistent
  • Variation is a sign of real, naturally raised eggs

Most of our flours are not gluten-free.

We specialize in fresh-milled, heritage grains like Turkey Red and Rouge de Bordeaux wheat, as well as spelt and rye—all of which naturally contain gluten. These grains are minimally processed and more traditionally prepared, but they are still not suitable for those with celiac disease or strict gluten intolerance.

We do offer some naturally gluten-free options, such as millet flour. However, it's important to note that all of our flours are milled and handled in environments where gluten-containing grains are present, so cross-contact is possible.

If you're strictly gluten-free for medical reasons, we recommend avoiding our flours at this time.

If you're simply exploring more traditional or easier-to-digest grain options, many of our customers find they tolerate heritage and fresh-milled flours differently—but this can vary from person to person.

Indeed, the bran and germ are preserved in our flour, which contain the majority of the vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.

Many modern flour varieties, unless specifically labeled as whole-grain, are highly refined all-purpose flours. We conducted an analysis of our heritage wheat using LightLabs and compared the results to an organic all-purpose flour, demonstrating significant enhancements in nutrient content. This improvement is attributable to the fact that all-purpose and many contemporary white flours undergo extensive refining processes, during which the bran and germ are removed to improve shelf stability.

Our flours are freshly milled from heritage and ancient grains, so they behave differently than modern, highly processed flours. Here is a link to a more detailed description of the uses for each flour, with linked recipes.

But here's a quick guide to help you get the best results:

  • Rouge de Bordeaux & Turkey Red (wheat flours): Great for breads, pastries, and pizza dough. They have a slightly lower gluten strength than modern flours, so doughs may rise a bit slower and be a little more dense than modern wheat. Use slightly more kneading and allow time for the dough to rest.
  • Spelt: It has a more delicate gluten structure, but works well in quick-rise or enriched breads, muffins, pancakes, and cookies. Avoid over-kneading, and you may need slightly less liquid than a recipe calls for with conventional flour.
  • Rye: Perfect for dense, flavorful breads like classic rye or add some to your sourdough mix. Rye flour doesn't rise as much as wheat flours, so it's often combined with other flours. It adds a rich, earthy taste and keeps baked goods moist longer.
  • Millet: Gluten-free and light, millet flour is excellent for pancakes, flatbreads, muffins, and cookies. Because it lacks gluten, it works best in combination with other flours or with binding agents (like eggs) in recipes that need structure.
  • Heritage Wheat Bread Flour Blend: perfect for rich, whole grain sourdough loaves and artisan breads like baguettes, focaccia, ciabatta, sandwich loaves, pizza dough, and flatbreads. This blend combines our Rouge de Bordeaux and Turkey Red flours, bringing together the strength and depth of two heritage grains.

Because these are fresh-milled, heritage flours, they behave a bit differently than conventional bread flour. You may notice they benefit from slightly more kneading, a touch more hydration, and a longer rest time to fully develop structure and flavor.

Each flour has its own unique flavor profile and hydration needs, but the result is a more flavorful, nutrient-dense loaf compared to modern, highly processed flours.

If you're new to baking with fresh-milled or heritage grains, we recommend starting by incorporating them into your usual recipes at a lower percentage. This gives you a chance to get familiar with how they behave while still enjoying the added flavor and nutrition. Over time, you can gradually increase the amount and adjust your recipes as needed until you find what works best for you.

Our chemical-free heritage and ancient grains are grown using regenerative agriculture practices that work with nature, not against it. That means no pesticides and no heavy tillage.

Instead, our farmers rely on time-honored, soil-building practices such as:

  • Diverse crop rotations that break pest cycles naturally
  • Cover crops to protect and feed the soil
  • Working with the seasons rather than forcing artificial growth
  • Living roots in the ground as much as possible to support microbial life

By choosing Nourish Flour, you're voting with your dollar against the chemical-intensive, industrial agriculture system that depletes topsoil and pollutes our environment.

You're instead supporting regenerative agriculture, which restores soil health, boosts nutrient density and flavor in food, and reduces pesticide exposure in our environment.

Lab tested to be free of over 750 pesticides!

Once harvested, grains must be milled to transform them into flour. While modern roller mills dominate industrial flour production, we choose the time-honored method of stone milling to preserve the integrity of the grain.

Stone milling is a traditional, slower grinding process that crushes whole grains between two large natural or engineered stones. Unlike high-speed roller mills, which strip away the bran and germ to create ultra-refined flour, stone milling preserves more of the grain's natural vitamins, minerals, and polyphenols, delivering a flour that is not only more nutritious but also richer in flavor.

Because stone mills generate less heat, delicate nutrients remain intact, and the resulting flour retains a coarser texture with more depth and character.

Many bakers and home cooks find that stone-milled flour produces superior-tasting sourdough bread and other baked goods with a heartier, more satisfying bite.

At Nourish, we are committed to milling methods that respect both tradition and nutrition, ensuring that our flour delivers the highest quality in both taste and nourishment.

Meet your flour miller, Dustin! And the set up used to stone-mill and bag your flour in 100% cotton bags.

No.

Most commercial flours undergo a chemical bleaching process to achieve a bright white color and softer texture. This process involves harsh additives such as benzoyl peroxide, chlorine dioxide, and azodicarbonamide (ADA), chemicals that alter the structure of the flour and can degrade its natural nutrient content.

At Nourish, we believe flour should remain as pure and natural as possible. Our flour is NEVER bleached. By skipping the bleaching process, we preserve the flour's natural color, flavor, and nutrient profile, ensuring better baking properties and a more wholesome final product.

No, we do not use the Organic certification label, and this decision is completely intentional. The Organic certification system contains numerous loopholes and inconsistencies, which makes it unreliable in our view. Because of these shortcomings, we choose not to depend on the Organic label or invest money in obtaining it. If you want to understand more about our perspective, you can watch me explore this topic in greater detail and explain why we deliberately avoid using the Organic label in Ashley's YouTube video.

It is important to note that organic farming practices, while often seen as environmentally friendly, can sometimes be degenerative. For example, some organic methods rely heavily on tillage, which can harm and degrade soil health over time instead of improving it. Our approach goes far beyond the standard Organic certification. We have established rigorous standards that ensure complete transparency and accountability. We work closely with a dedicated group of regenerative row crop farmers who adhere to these higher standards, focusing on practices that restore and enhance soil vitality rather than deplete it.

In addition to our commitment to regenerative farming, we maintain strict controls to ensure that no toxic pesticides are used at any stage of our production. We back this up with scientific evidence: our flour undergoes thorough testing by an independent third-party laboratory, Safe Food Alliance. Their comprehensive screening covers over 750 different pesticides, and the results consistently confirm that our flour is completely free from any pesticide residues. This rigorous testing process gives our customers confidence in the purity and safety of our products.

No! For context, most modern flour is. You'll know if you read an ingredient label and see: "Enriched Flour" or a list like: wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid.)

Modern flour is processed so aggressively that it strips away many of the naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. Then companies try to "fix" this by adding synthetic nutrients back in.

But it's unrealistic to think we can recreate nature's design with isolated additives that lack the same bioavailability or synergy.

Here's what enrichment typically includes:

  • Metallic Iron Particles: Conventional enriched flour often contains reduced iron—essentially tiny metal filings. These can contribute to iron overload and oxidative stress in susceptible individuals.
  • Synthetic B Vitamins: Instead of the complex, naturally occurring B vitamins found in whole foods, enriched flours use synthetic forms like folic acid. Folic acid must be converted in the body to its active form (tetrahydrofolate). Not everyone performs this conversion efficiently, leaving unmetabolized folic acid circulating in the bloodstream: something that may disrupt natural folate pathways and overall B vitamin metabolism.

At Nourish Food Club, our Non-Fortified Flour keeps its natural nutrient profile intact: free from synthetic additives, industrial iron, and artificial "enrichment."

We honor the integrity of real food so you get flour as nature intended: rich in genuine vitamins, minerals, and incredible flavor.

Yes, many mills mass-produce flour bags that site in warehouses for months. This leads to nutrient degradation and oxidation. Our flour bags are milled each week depending on what's been ordered and shipped out of our hub 48 hours after the flour has been milled and bagged.

> Flour milled on Sunday > Shipped out of our hub on Monday or Tuesday

For thousands of years, our ancestors have relied on flour and bread as dietary staples. However, these foods are now associated with adverse health effects. What has changed?

Contemporary wheat is characterized by the following attributes:

  • Genetically modified
  • Frequently treated with pesticides
  • Devoid of natural nutrients due to intensive milling processes
  • Subjected to bleaching and bromation
  • Enriched with iron particles and synthetic vitamins such as folic acid

In contrast to modern hybridized and genetically engineered wheat, ancient and heritage grains are:

  • Easier to digest
  • Richer in vitamins and minerals
  • Not fortified with synthetic vitamins and minerals
  • Free from genetic modification

Many individuals who experience difficulties with modern wheat find that ancient and heritage grains are more tolerable for their digestive systems. Additionally, these grains provide a more nuanced flavor profile and superior baking properties compared to conventional wheat.

The term "ancient grains" refers to grain varieties that have remained largely unchanged for millennia. At Nourish, we offer ancient grains such as spelt and millet.

"Heritage grains" (also known as heirloom grains) denote older grain varieties cultivated prior to the advent of industrial agriculture and modern hybridization. While not necessarily thousands of years old like ancient grains, these varieties are typically adapted to specific regions and have been preserved through generational cultivation. At Nourish, we provide Turkey Red wheat and Rouge de Bordeaux wheat, both of which are heritage grains with rich culinary traditions.

Ancient and heritage grains maintain the natural integrity of wheat as originally intended, prior to the genetic alterations introduced by modern industrial breeding practices.

Our grains are ancient and heritage varieties that have never been genetically modified. These grains offer a richer, more authentic flavor profile and are naturally easier to digest compared to modern, heavily processed grains.

We maintain full transparency throughout our supply chain. We personally know the farmers who grow our grains, ensuring a direct and trustworthy relationship. Unlike many flour brands that purchase their grains randomly from the open market, we prioritize traceability and accountability at every step.

Our grains are grown using regenerative farming methods. This approach promotes healthier soil by enhancing its natural fertility, supports a cleaner environment by reducing chemical inputs, fosters a more balanced ecosystem, and ultimately results in flour that is more nutrient-dense and beneficial for your health.

To ensure peak nutrition and flavor, our grains are freshly milled using stone mills just 48 hours before being shipped directly to your door. This freshness preserves the natural qualities of the grain better than flour that has been sitting on shelves for extended periods.

We use traditional stone-milling techniques instead of modern roller mills. While roller mills tend to strip away essential nutrients, stone-milling retains the grain's natural vitamins, minerals, oils, and aromatic qualities, resulting in a superior product both in taste and nutritional value.

Our flour is never bleached, meaning it contains no harmful chemicals that can degrade the quality or nutritional content of the grain.

We also never use bromates, which are chemical additives sometimes used to improve flour texture but are linked to health concerns.

Every batch of our flour undergoes rigorous lab testing to ensure it is completely free from pesticides, providing you with a safe and clean product.

We do not use any synthetic fortification in our flour. This means no added iron shards or artificial vitamins—just pure, natural flour as nature intended, preserving its original nutrient profile.

We go beyond organic standards because we recognize that the organic certification system has several loopholes that can compromise quality and transparency. Rather than relying on this often costly certification, our farming practices exceed organic requirements, offering you greater assurance and clarity about how your flour is produced.

Our commitment to quality ensures that our flour is truly nutrient-dense, providing you with wholesome, nourishing ingredients that support your well-being.

Finally, to maintain the integrity and freshness of our flour, it is carefully bagged in 100% cotton bags, which are both eco-friendly and breathable, helping to preserve the flour's quality during storage and transport.

No, our sourdough products are not gluten-free.

They are made with our fresh-milled, heritage wheat flours, which naturally contain gluten. While traditional sourdough fermentation helps break down some components of the grain and may make it feel easier to digest for some people, it does not remove gluten.

Because of this, our sourdough is not suitable for those with celiac disease or anyone who needs to strictly avoid gluten.

If you're someone who has struggled with conventional bread, you may find sourdough made with heritage grains and long fermentation to be a different experience, but this can vary from person to person.

PUFAs (polyunsaturated fats) are a type of fat that has become much more common in the modern food system.

This increase is largely due to:

  • Industrial seed oils
  • Changes in livestock feed (corn, soy, and other inputs)

Because what animals eat directly affects the fat in their meat and eggs, modern animal products often contain higher levels of these fats than they did historically.

Our approach

At Nourish, we take a different approach by:

  • Custom-formulating animal feed for chickens, pigs, and dairy goats
  • Avoiding corn, soy, flax, vegetable oils & other high PUFA ingredients
  • Prioritizing a more traditional fatty acid balance

Why this matters

Our goal is to produce food that is:

  • More aligned with how food was traditionally produced
  • Lower in unstable fats introduced through modern systems
  • Designed to better support overall health

You can learn more about PUFAs & their effects on human health here.

When you order from Nourish, you're paying for more than just the food itself.

You're paying for:

  • Food you don't have to question
  • Direct access to small regenerative farms
  • Carefully vetted sourcing
  • Clean ingredients and production
  • Time saved from sourcing food yourself

You're also supporting:

  • Small farmers
  • Regenerative agriculture
  • A food system built around quality—not shortcuts

The takeaway:

What you are paying for is much more than just a product; it represents:

  1. A commitment to a regenerative system that truly respects the land. This means the farming and production methods are designed to restore and enhance the natural environment, promoting soil health, biodiversity, and sustainability for future generations.

  2. Support of a humane system that honors the animals involved. This approach ensures that animals are treated with care and respect throughout their lives, following ethical practices that prioritize their well-being and dignity.

  3. Reduced uncertainty one experiences about what you feed yourself and your family. Knowing that the food comes from responsible sources reduces worries about harmful additives, unethical practices, or environmental damage.

  4. Greater transparency at every stage of the process. From the initial farming to the final product on your table, you have clear insight into how the food is grown, raised, and handled, fostering trust and confidence in what you consume.

In other words, you are investing in food you can truly trust—food that aligns with your values and supports a healthier planet, healthier animals, and healthier people.

Many people notice right away that Nourish food tastes different.

That's because it is different.

What impacts flavor:

  • Soil health
  • Animal diet
  • Time on pasture
  • Farming practices

In regenerative systems:

  • Animals eat a more diverse, natural diet
  • Crops are grown in living, nutrient-rich soil
  • Food develops more depth of flavor

What this means for you:

You may notice:

  • Richer taste
  • More variation between batches
  • Seasonal differences

This is often described as the "taste of place"—food reflecting the land it came from.

Please keep in mind that our food may look and taste a bit different from what you're used to at the grocery store. This is completely normal. We don't feed our animals corn and soy to fatten them up; instead, we rotate our animals daily and work with small butchers who might have some natural variations compared to large grocery store suppliers. We follow the seasons, so things like yolk color and butter shade can change throughout the year depending on the grasses available. These natural differences are part of the experience, and we encourage you to appreciate them rather than expecting everything to always be exactly the same like in the grocery store.

In modern agriculture, corn and soy are widely used in animal feed and food production.

These ingredients are often:

  • Highly processed
  • Linked to industrial farming systems
  • A major source of certain fats (PUFAs) and compounds in the food supply

Our approach

We avoid these inputs by:

  • Using custom-formulated feed that is corn- and soy-free
  • Working with regenerative farms that avoid industrial shortcuts
  • Prioritizing more traditional feeding and growing methods

Why this matters

What animals eat directly impacts the food you eat.

By controlling feed and inputs, we can produce food that:

  • Better reflects traditional farming systems
  • Avoids unnecessary additives and industrial byproducts

📄 Clean Ingredients: What We Do (and Don't) Use

At Nourish, we believe food should be made with real ingredients—nothing extra.

What we avoid:

  • GMOs
  • Pesticides & herbicides, such as Glyphosate
  • Seed oils (PUFAs)
  • Gums and emulsifiers
  • Artificial additives and preservatives
  • Bleaching, bromate, and synthetic fortification in flour
  • Vaccines, hormones, etc. (we take a "no-needle" approach)

What we prioritize:

  • Whole, recognizable ingredients
  • Traditional preparation methods
  • Minimal processing
  • Transparency in sourcing

Simple takeaway:

If it doesn't need to be there, we don't include it.

Every farm partner in the Nourish network goes through a careful vetting process before we work together.

What we look for:

  • Regenerative farming practices
  • Chemical-free growing methods
  • Commitment to true animal welfare
  • Alignment with Nourish standards

How we maintain standards:

  • Farmers receive our Nourish Farming Practices SOP
  • We provide hands-on support and guidance
  • We conduct regular on-site visits (weekly)
  • We stay involved in feed, sourcing, and production decision

Why this matters

We don't rely on labels alone.

Instead, we build real relationships and maintain direct oversight so we can stand behind the quality of every product we offer.

You can learn more about our farming practices here.

Regenerative farming is an approach to agriculture that focuses on improving the land—not just producing from it.

Instead of depleting soil, regenerative practices aim to:

  • Restore soil health
  • Increase biodiversity
  • Improve water retention
  • Reduce reliance on chemical inputs

What this looks like in practice:

  • Rotational grazing for livestock
  • Moving animals regularly to fresh pasture
  • Avoiding pesticides and synthetic fertilizers
  • Supporting natural ecosystems

Why it matters

Healthy soil produces healthier plants.
Healthier plants support healthier animals.
And that leads to more nutrient-dense food.

Simple way to think about it:

Regenerative farming works with nature, not against it—
creating a system that benefits the land, the animals, and the people eating the food.

You can watch firsthand how we raise our beef, as an example, regeneratively here.

The LowPs™ Standard is how we control what goes into our food—from seed to fork—so the final product supports human metabolism rather than industrial efficiency.

"LowPs" refers to minimizing three major inputs that are common in the modern food system:

  • PUFAs (polyunsaturated fats)
  • Phytoestrogens
  • Pesticides

Why does this matter?

What an animal eats directly impacts the fat composition of its meat and eggs. In modern agriculture, livestock feed is often dominated by ingredients like corn, soy, and industrial byproducts—many of which are high in omega-6 PUFAs and can alter the nutritional profile of the final food.

Chickens (like pigs and humans) are monogastric animals, meaning their diet directly influences their tissue composition. Even when pasture-raised, the majority of their nutrition (often 70–95%) comes from their feed — which makes feed quality critical.

How we do things differently

At Nourish, we don't follow standard feed practices — we build our own system.

Our custom feed is intentionally designed to be:

  • Low in PUFAs – avoiding unstable fats commonly found in seed oils and industrial feed
  • Low in phytoestrogens – free from soy, flax, and similar compounds that can influence hormone signaling
  • Free from pesticides – using regeneratively grown ingredients and testing to ensure glyphosate-free results

We partner directly with regenerative farmers and oversee the sourcing of our feed ingredients, giving us full visibility into how they are grown. This goes beyond typical certification models and allows us to stand behind the integrity of our food.

The result

This approach allows us to produce food that more closely reflects how animals were raised historically, with:

  • Lower PUFA levels
  • Reduced exposure to hormone-disrupting compounds
  • No detectable glyphosate residue (based on testing)
  • A more stable and nutrient-dense fat profile

In short, you're not just what you eat — you're what your food eats. And we've built our system with that in mind.

Because it's not the same food—and it's not the same system.

Most grocery store food is produced for scale using:

  • Confinement systems
  • Commodity feed
  • Chemical inputs
  • Industrial processing

At Nourish, we do things differently:

  • Small regenerative farms
  • Corn- & soy-free, low-PUFA feed
  • No industrial shortcuts or fillers
  • Direct sourcing from farmers

There are also real costs behind:

  • Temperature-controlled shipping
  • Insulated packaging
  • Ice packs and dry ice
  • Nationwide delivery

The reality:

Shipping perishable food is expensive, and while we absorb part of that cost, it is reflected in overall pricing.

Nourish is not a traditional grocery store—and we're not sourcing from anonymous suppliers.

We do things differently by design.

Direct relationships with farmers

We work closely with a network of small regenerative farms and stay involved in how food is produced from start to finish.

A cooperative model (not industrial scale)

Instead of expanding one large farm, we grow by partnering with more small farms—each operating within natural limits.

Custom approach to animal feed

For monogastric animals like chickens and pigs, we use custom-formulated, corn- and soy-free feed designed to align with our standards.

Clean inputs across the board

We avoid:

  • GMOs
  • Seed oils (PUFAs)
  • Pesticides & herbicides, such as Glyphosate
  • Additives, gums, and emulsifiers

Hands-on oversight

We don't just source food—we help shape how it's produced, from farming practices to processing standards to final delivery.

The result:

Food that reflects how it used to be made, with more nutrition, and the convenience of modern delivery.

You can learn more about The Nourish Difference here.

The modern food system is built for efficiency and scale—but that has come at a cost.

Over time, food production has shifted toward:

  • Confinement farming
  • Industrial monocropping
  • Heavy use of chemicals and pharmaceuticals
  • Lower nutrient density

At the same time, it has become harder than ever to confidently source clean, high-quality food.

Nourish Food Club was created to offer a different path.

Our mission is to:

  • Produce the healthiest food possible
  • Work with nature instead of against it
  • Avoid toxic chemicals and unnecessary inputs
  • Support small regenerative farms

Instead of scaling one large operation, we've built a cooperative of small farms that share our standards and values.

This allows us to grow responsibly—without compromising food quality, animal welfare, or the land.

Every Nourish order supports this system: a network of small farms working together to produce food that truly nourishes families while restoring the land for future generations.
