When Regenerative Agriculture Goes Industrial, And Why We Said No
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how much the pasture-raised and regenerative agriculture movement has grown, and that’s something to celebrate!
More people than ever are asking questions about where their food comes from and how it’s raised. That kind of awareness is certainly powerful, and is what sparks change!
But as the Nationwide demand grows, so does the temptation to scale. Some producers in the regenerative space are choosing BIGGER: more acres, more animals, more production… all on one farm... becoming just a little more “industrial” in the process.
That might work for others, but it’s not our model. And we hope that approach doesn’t make “pasture-raised” and “regenerative agriculture” lose their meaning.
At Nourish, we consciously chose a different path: one that looks a lot more like the way food used to be.
Nourish Food Club isn’t a single farm, we are a farm cooperative.
Yes, we began on our small regenerative farm, Angel Acres, in Michigan. But as demand for our Low PUFA Corn- and Soy-Free eggs grew, we faced a choice: expand our own farm, add more animals, and chase scale, or stay true to our mission of restoring small regenerative farms.
We chose the latter.
Instead of stretching our farm to its limits, we decided to grow by partnering with more small regenerative farms, keeping our values, our land, and our animals in balance with Mother Nature.
So at Nourish, our products don’t come from one large operation, and we don’t think they should.
Instead, we’re restoring the old-fashioned farm cooperative model: a community of small regenerative farmers working together to bring you a wide variety of truly healthy, farm-fresh food.
We believe that growth should mean more farmers, not more industrialization.
When you buy from Nourish, your chicken, eggs or beef wasn’t mass-produced at one “regenerative” operation.
It was raised by a community of regenerative farmers who each care deeply for their land, their animals, and the families they feed.
This approach keeps our farmers thriving, our soil healthy, and our standards high.
Our mission is to revive small regenerative farms: even if it takes more coordination, time, and cost. Because it’s worth it.
More care. More space. More connection.
And it’s not just about the land.
It’s about restoring integrity to the entire food system.
A system that’s been dominated for too long by industrial agriculture, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and profit margins. We believe there’s a better way: one rooted in health, transparency, and genuine stewardship. One that our great great grandparents knew well!
When you join Nourish Food Club, you’re not just getting healthy, farm-fresh food, you’re becoming part of this movement.
Together, we can restore the soil, support small regenerative farms, and bring integrity back to the food system that nourishes our families and communities.
